BIM's mission is to support and enable an increase in value creation of a sustainable Irish seafood sector across the supply chain, from catch to consumer.
BIM’s strategy aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Irish seafood sector focusing on the following five key strategic priorities:
| For a WEFTA participation point of view, BIM is very active across the entire seafood value chain with close industry connections with Fishermen, Aquaculture sites and the Irish processing sector. BIM experts are involved with BIM and internationally funded RDI with a clear focus on high technology readiness level (TRL) commercial outcomes. BIM operates a Seafood Innovation Hub in Clonakilty, West Cork delivering Innovation Framework expertise, new product development and processing technology know-how. As a funding agency, BIM works closely with the Irish seafood sector to identify new technologies and trial and validate under Irish conditions. BIM actively scans the international R&D arena for near-market solutions to increase value, decrease costs and increase raw material productivity. |
